Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: How to create a plant, soil, or weather template
To create a new template, first open the browser (choose Browser from the Window menu on the garden window).
Then select the object (the weather, a soil patch, or a plant) you want to make a template (a climate, a soil type, or a cultivar) from.
Click the template button at the
top of the browser (it looks like a cookie cutter). In the small dialog box that appears, type the name for
the new template then click OK. The browser will automatically select the new template.
If you are making a cultivar template and the selected object is a plant (not a template), the program will
ask if you want to save plant drawing information with the template. Normally you will say No
because you want your template to be a seed. See How to make a seedling
cultivar for an explanation of your choices here.
You can now use the new template in your garden. If you created a climate, you can choose the new
climate in the simulation options window as the climate to use to
generate the weather. If you created a soil type, you can choose the soil type when you create a new soil patch. If you created a cultivar, you can choose the cultivar when
you plant a seed.
You can also create a new template by copying an existing template. You can do this either from the
browser or from the templates window. To make a copy of a template using the browser, select it in from
the drop-down list box at the top of the browser, then click the template button. In the small dialog box that appears, type the name for
the new template then click OK. The browser will
automatically select the new template.
To make a copy of a template using the templates window, choose Templates from the Edit menu on the garden window. In the templates window that appears, select a template in the list, then click
Copy. Type in a name for the copy, then click OK. The new copy will appear in the
list. Click OK to save your changes or Cancel to abandon them.
