Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: browser components
Browser components are panels located on the numbers side of the browser. Each browser component corresponds to one aspect of the simulation and shows one or more values.
Browser components can show any one of these types of aspects:
Boolean: a simple
yes/no choice
Simple number: an
integer or real single value, or a list of real values
S Curve: a parameter
describing an exponential function for which two points are adjusted
Radio button list: a list
of choices of which only one can be selected
Check box list: a list of
choices of which any number can be selected
Color: a color
rectangle and red-green-blue values for a color
3D object: a 3D object
is shown, and clicking on it brings up the 3D object chooser
Harvest item: a harvest
icon is shown, and clicking on the icon brings up the Harvest item
editor
Browser components have some basic parts, which always act the same way.
Numbers or words:
Any number or word with a line under it can be clicked on and will do something, unless it is
drawn in gray. Numbers and words drawn in gray do not apply to the currently selected object.
Names: The name of
each browser component is at its top. Clicking on the name selects the component. Double-clicking on the
name opens or closes the component.
Lines: Called sliders, the lines that represent values go from one bound to another. The
bounds are drawn either on both sides of the line or directly under it. For example, percent goes from 0 to
100.
Slider buttons: If a
slider has something that looks like a button , you can click on it and drag it around. If a slider has no button, its value cannot be
changed.
Units: If you click on a
unit, like kg/ha, you move to the next unit possible for that aspect. (Shift-click to move backward.) If only
one unit is available for that aspect, nothing will happen.
Bounds: These are
numbers that show the extent of the values shown by sliders. Clicking on a bound brings up the Bounds change window, where you can change the bounds for the aspect.
For more information on browser components, see How to change a value in
a browser component.
