Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: watershed

A watershed is an area of land that drains into a certain point or distance along a stream. It can also be called a drainage basin, a river basin, or a catchment. Watersheds are generally bounded by hills or ridges, and on the other side of these hills the water flows down into another river or stream.

A watershed

In this simulation a watershed is described by parameters of steepness, length, width, etc. that determine how water flows and how soil is eroded. Since the EPIC model from which this simulation is derived is meant for watersheds not much smaller than 0.1 hectare, we place each of our soil patches (which can be very small, say one square meter) in its own virtual watershed of 0.1 hectare in size. These watersheds have no interaction with each other (which is of course unrealistic).
