Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: System requirements

Required system

The 16-bit version of Garden with Insight requires Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or later running on at least a 25 MHz 386DX computer (with a math coprocessor). It was developed for Windows 3.1 and has been tested (though not extensively) under Windows 95. The 32-bit version requires Windows 95. The 32-bit version has not been tested under Win32s. The 16-bit version runs under Windows NT 3.5.1; the 32-bit version runs but has not been well tested. Neither version has been tested under Windows NT 4.0. (This information might be out of date; for more complete compatibility information, see the readme.txt file that came with Garden with Insight or see our web site at http://www.gardenwithinsight.com for details.)

The program requires at least 2 megabytes of free memory when Windows is running. It requires at least 20 megabytes of free disk space to install and run. It does not require a Windows-compatible sound card but will use one if it is available. A mouse is required for tool operations, though most of the dialogs work with the keyboard as well as the mouse. You can use it with a 16-color graphics display, but there are special considerations for tool files and backdrop pictures.

Recommended system

Because this is a computationally intensive simulation, we recommend at least a 66 MHz 486DX computer with 8 megabytes of RAM. For the best looking plants, we recommend at least a 256-color display.
